I

was born and bred in Woking, attending St Mary’s Providence Convent in Pembroke Road, until it was pulled down the year I left (!) and then Guildford High where playing games was the best part of the time-table! I left Woking to train as a P.E. Teacher and spent four happy years in Eastbourne before taking up my first teaching post in a girls’ school in Harrow, Middlesex. After four years I moved back to Woking with my husband, Brian and baby son, Nick. A few years of serious house renovation then began with odd bits of supply teaching and tennis coaching here and there. We were extremely fortunate to have my parents living the other side of Woking who were very willing to help out with Nick - and Georgie who had arrived two and a half years later!

When Georgie started full time school at Halstead I also began a job there teaching P.E. to all the 3-11 year olds and I thoroughly enjoyed all their enthusiasm and commitment to their lessons and teams. I left Halstead in 2003 after teaching there for eleven years, having decided to become a full time Mum and to pursue other plans and interests.

It was during my time at Halstead, ten years ago, that Brian and I became Christians and started attending the Coign Church. It was an incredible and amazing change in our lives.

Having given up teaching I have been able to get involved in all sorts of things. As well as being a new SCAt Trustee, I am able to help out with some of the ministries at church and I can also be found over at Chase Children’s Hospice where I either man the telephones (or rather cut people off!) or drive the mini-bus at Christopher’s. I am also enjoying learning a new game … golf and enjoy playing anywhere and with anyone – so any offers?!!

Brian works as an accountant in London and both Nick and Georgie are now at University.

I joined SCAt as a Trustee in 2005 sixteen months ago and am thoroughly enjoying the role of supervising Karen, our Primary School worker. If you haven’t seen her and the fantastic volunteer assembly team in action… you should!! Tthey are doing an outstanding job in bringing Christianity and the exciting truth of Jesus’ life into our local Primary Schools through assemblies and clubs.
