SCAt Workers
meet Karen Hodges
SCAt Primary schools worker
Karen joined the team in September 2003.
My name is Karen Hodges. I have had a passion and a heart to share the love of God with children from a young age and Mark 10v13-16 has been a passage close to my heart.
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
I've been involved in doing Sunday Schools, I worked with Youth for Christ in Secondary Schools and with Spurgeon Child Care in a rough part of Cheltenham for two years. I have also found that my strength and gifting is with the younger children so I have been involved in Primary schools work in Plymouth and when I first moved to London.
I've recently completed a Diploma in Children's Evangelism and Nurture at Cliff Bible College (nr Sheffield), and this has deepened my desire to spread the love of God with children. Doing the course at Cliff has given me a deeper passion to spread the love of God with Children. I'm excited and ready for what God wants in Woking and my part in it.
